  • Four families started a small self-help group in Ebbw Vale supported by a nurse from the North Gwent Drug Service. Mike Blanche volunteered to meet with parents wgho were affected by a family members drug and/or alcohol use, providing a listening ear and limited support. This covered the Blaenau Gwent area.

  • DAFS came into being, managed at the time by GAVO and working out of donated room in Blaina hospital and began covering a larger area

  • Two DAFS volunteers began training as counsellors at Coleg Gwent.
